Prayer of the Youth
on the occasion of the CBCP Year of the Youth
APPROVED RESOLUTIONS
Ratified and Approved on December 9, 2002
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should hold a Youth Mass every Sunday or at least once a month.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should come up with programs that would cater to the needs of its spiritual growth, such as:

young people in the parish, such as:

3.1. Youth Orientation Seminar (YOS)
3.2. Leadership Training Seminar (LTS)
3.3. Youth Encounter (YE)
3.4. and other spiritual enrichment formations and updating programs which they can avail from the Commission on Youth (COY) and from other resource speakers acknowledged by the commission.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should introduce and allow the young people to immerse themselves in the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC), a new way of being Church.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) must organize a Taize Prayer every month in order to encounter Christ more intimately in prayer.
- That there should be a Parish Youth Vocation Awareness Program at least once a year, preferably during the vocation month in which the PYCC can invite religious communities / diocesan clergy to enlighten the youths' understanding of God's call to the ministry and religious life.
- That all the young people in the parish should develop in them a strong and fervent devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Queen of the Visayas, and that they also help promote in the spreading' of the devotion to and emulating the virtues of Blessed Pedro Calungsod, the model of the youth.

YOUTH RELATIONAL
Youth to Youth
- That each parish should create a Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) to supervise all parish youth mandated organization movements, ministries and covenanted communities in order to forge unified goal and vision towards the spiritual upliftment of the young people.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should have a regular meeting at least once a month specially a week before the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) meeting where they can express their concerns, issues and planned activities.
- That there should be a regular representation of the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) officers to the monthly Vicariate meeting and in the District Coordinating Council meeting for easy monitoring and quick dissemination of information.
- That every meeting (parish / Vicariate / District / Diocesan level) fosters solidarity, sense of belongingness, respect, humility and justice tempered with love and mercy.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should take the initiative to invite other young people, especially the out of school youth, to join the parish youth activities organized by the Youth Council.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should invite one or two representatives from other mandated organizations, movements, ministries and covenanted communities to attend its monthly meeting for proper coordination and implementation of the parish youth activities.
- That all the Archdiocesan activities especially the Local World Youth Day and annual Youth Congress should be given top priority in terms of active participation and full support.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should organize a Parish Youth Day / Camp / Jam/ Sportsfest at least once a year. The same is expected from the vicariate and district levels which should be participated in by all parish youth members.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should come up with a whole year calendarium for the parish youth programs which would incorporate the spiritual. psycho-emotional , physical and other ongoing youth formations, while taking seriously into consideration the activities provided by the Commission on Youth, and coordinating properly with the parish pastoral programs.
Youth to Pastoral Council
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) must not fail to represent the youth during the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) meeting.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) must have the help and support from the PPC members in terms of moral, spiritual, psycho-emotional and especially financial assistance.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) members must be treated with respect and be given opportunities to gain self-confidence as a way of molding them to become future leaders.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should look up to the PPC members as their role models.
Youth to Priests
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should seek the spiritual guidance from the parish priest or the priest in-charge to journey with them in defining their role and understanding as Christian youth in the parish.
- That there should also be a priest in-charge for the vicariate and district councils to guide and coordinate their activities with the Commission on Youth.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should initiate regular meetings with the parish priest or priest in-charge to enhance better working relationship, coordination and friendship.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) is expected to submit and present their plans and activities to the parish priest or priest in-charge prior to their implementation so as to avoid misunderstanding and conflict.
- That every communication coming from the Commission on Youth should be given due recognition by the parish priest or priest in-charge for proper action and coordination with the archdiocesan activities.
- That the Parish Priest or the priest in-charge should extend financial assistance to defray the necessary expenses for the parish youth programs and activities.
- That the Parish Priest or the priest in-charge is encouraged to attend the parish youth activities, functions, seminars and workshops, as his way of supporting the young in their ongoing formation.
YOUTH APOSTOLATE
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) members are expected to serve generously with their talents, time and knowledge to the parish youth programs without expecting something in return.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) members should be able to read the signs of the time and be ready to respond to the pressing social issues and concerns, such as Drug Addiction, Prostitution, Aids, Abortion, Pre-marital Sex, Child Labor and Exploitation.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should organize activities, like Tree Planting, Environmental Awareness Drive, Clean and Green Campaign to promote the preservation of Mother Nature.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) should actively participate in C-CIMPEL and other political related activities organized by the parish and archdiocesan levels.
- That the Parish Youth Coordinating Council (PYCC) members are encouraged to showcase their talents in special fund raising programs (as sanctioned by the parish priest) to foster the organization's financial self sufficiency.
